Kristen Wiig says Bridesmaids feels like “one big highlight”.

The star wrote and starred in the 2011 smash hit comedy movie.

Bridesmaids centres on a quirky group of women who are preparing for their friend’s wedding and has been hailed as one of the funniest pictures of recent years.

It won Kristen a best original screenplay Academy Award nomination, which she still can’t get over.

“Going to the Oscars was a major highlight this year. To hear my name and [my writing partner, Annie Mumolo’s] announced, after five years of writing and working on the film – it was surreal,” she enthused in the latest edition of UK Glamour. “Professionally, the reception of this film has allowed me opportunities I could only dream of and I am incredibly grateful. It all feels like one big highlight.”

Kristen loves the effect Bridesmaids had on people.

“People have told me that the film made them laugh and cry, and that the friendships really resonate with them. For me there is no better compliment than that,” she said.
