Paul Rudd: I can’t suck in movies
Paul Rudd constantly worries about “not sucking” in his comedy roles.
The actor has appeared in a host of hit movies such as Knocked Up, Role Models and I Love You, Man. Now he has developed a reputation for making audiences laugh, he is afraid he might lose his comedic talents.
“There’s pressure, every single time, of not sucking. Now that you’ve pointed it out, I’m screwed,” he laughed to Collider, when asked if he feels pressure to bring humour to films.Paul stars alongside Jennifer Aniston in his latest movie, Wanderlust. The comedy was directed by David Wain, who previously worked with Paul on Role Models.Paul enjoys David’s style of directing and has drawn comparisons to Judd Apatow.“David’s history, and the way that he’s always worked, has actually been to write a pretty tight script. Judd writes a script and it’s tight and it focuses on jokes, but he loves to just keep the cameras going and see what happens, and yell out directions while we’re filming,” he explained. “He shapes it and directs it as it’s going on, and conducts it like an orchestra. So, I would say that is actually more of a Judd influence than anything else.”
