The Perks of Being a Wallflower has finally set a release date.

The movie starring Harry Potter franchise actress Emma Watson and The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev will have a limited release in theatres this fall.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is adapted from Stephen Chbosky’s eponymous book. Stephen authored the tome as well as the screenplay and has also directed the feature film.

The plot explores adolescent awkwardness as it centres on a young freshman who is taken under the wing of two seniors in a Midwestern high school.

Emma has spoken previously about how eager she was to see the project reach audiences.

“I feel incredible about it. I feel like I've been waiting for ‘Perks’,” she told MTV News. “I was waiting for this story, for this script, for this moment, for these people to do it with me. I'm so glad I didn't do anything that I didn't care about.”

The Perks of Being a Wallflower will play in select US cinemas beginning September 21.
