Ridley Scott hands-on director
Director Sir Ridley Scott “develops everything.”
The iconic British filmmaker is responsible for creating cinematic classics such as Blade Runner and Alien. Before Ridley began directing films he worked as a set designer and an art director. With so many skills under his belt, Ridley feels that he should have his hands in all aspects of production when he is helming a motion picture.“I develop everything. I do. I learned that a long time ago,” he told SlashFilm.com “It’s never going to land on your desk, you have to come up with what you want to do with the story and I think sometimes it can take two or three years.”Ridley desperately desires to direct a specific type of genre film next.“I want to do a western really badly and I think I’ve got a western this morning, finally after two and a half years of talking and writing and talking and… I think I have it, which is kind of interesting,” he revealed.
