Simon Pegg wishes he was his Star Trek character because it would be “awesome” to have his own spaceship.

The British star portrays Scotty in the upcoming sci-fi sequel. He has named the galaxy travelling engineer as the character he would most like to be in real life, explaining he thinks Scotty has a fun life.

“Scotty, because then I’d get to play around on a spaceship,” he replied, when asked whose life he would like to assume. “I know I’d be in almost constant peril but to have a star ship of my own would be awesome.”

Simon is proud to be in the movie adaptations of the famed TV show. He was amazed by how much he enjoyed the first movie, which was released in 2009.

“Being in some things can almost spoil it. I remember when I watched the first Star Trek, because I don’t come into it for a little while, I was really enjoying it and getting into it and suddenly I popped up and it was like, sh*t,” he laughed to Q magazine.
