Sofia Coppola ‘perfect for Marni and H&M’

Imogen Poots says Sofia Coppola “captured boredom in modern-day society” when she directed the Marni for H&M campaign.

The filmmaker-and-actress helmed the advertising film for the high street retailer’s upcoming collection with the Italian fashion label.

Imogen stars in the campaign and says the director brought an edge to the project.

"I think she captures boredom in modern-day society so well," she told Style.com.

"I knew that she'd bring something extra and character-driven to what could just be otherwise perceived as one-dimensional."

Imogen was speaking at the Marni at H&M launch party in Los Angeles at the weekend that drew a star-studded crowd, including Drew Barrymore, Jessica Chastain and Lily Collins.

The collection of women’s and men’s clothing and accessories, designed by Consuelo Castiglioni, will launch in H&M stores worldwide and online next month.

The designer gushed about the capsule pieces on offer.

"All the elements that make Marni are in this H&M collection: the brocade and the patterns," she said. "It's really everything that I like."

Sofia shot the advertisement in Marrakech in October. It will run in cinemas and on television worldwide and will appear online. The 40-year-old star also created the print campaign.
