Tom Wilkinson is tired of shooting movies in “boring places” and would like to film in the South of France.

The British actor recently travelled to India to make The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which follows a group of ageing tourists as they discover the country.

Although Tom enjoyed India it isn’t a country he particularly wants to return to. The star is looking forward to the day when he gets to work somewhere he really loves.

“I always get to go to really boring places, I never get to go… I would love to make a movie in the South of France. I made a movie is Hawaii once and it was in the leper colony! Of all the luck in the world,” he laughed to Cover Media.

Stories are important to Tom and are the thing he looks at most closely when picking a job. At 64 he feels he has the right to be picky about what he will and won’t do, although sometimes his head is turned by the financial rewards on offer.

“Script, not necessarily money but money increasingly. Just doable, stuff that you think has got something about it,” he replied, when asked what makes him take on a project.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is out in the UK on February 24.
