Mumbai, October 3: Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) commissioned a 400-kV grid line for the first time in Mumbai. The main reason for starting it is to meet the increasing electricity needs in the country’s commercial capital Mumbai. This information has been given by an officer.
The existing transmission and distribution capacity will be augmented by the new line from Kharghar Vikhroli Transmission Limited. Due to which power production in the city is expected to increase by 1000 MW. In recent years the city has seen two major grid failures on 12 October 2020 and 27 February 2022. Due to these failures the power supply in the city was disrupted. Later there were political uproars regarding this.
An official said at the launch of this project that bringing additional 1000 MW power in Mumbai will solve the power problem. Problems like power supply failure that occurred in the past can be avoided through this project. By increasing the transmission and distribution capacity through Kharghar Vikhroli line, the problem of power supply in future will be solved. With the commencement of this project, Mumbai has got 400 KV grid within its municipal limits. Due to which there will be a huge improvement in the reliability and stability of the electricity sector.
Planning for this project had been going on for more than a decade. The project has been delayed due to various reasons such as alleged rivalry among power suppliers and many others.
Many challenges were encountered during the work of laying the line by Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) in difficult terrain. Which was removed. These challenges were addressed through the use of technology and innovation. Whatever challenges came up during this project, they were faced and solved through technology and innovation.
These include six towers built in Thane Creek using heavy rigs on floating barges. In urban areas, special horizontal configuration towers have been used. Due to which whatever obstacles and difficulties there were related to height were removed.
Another major power line is the Kudu-Aarey line to help bring 1000 MW of power to the city. Talks are underway to complete it in the future. After this project, the next work is likely to be done on Kudu-Aarey line.
According to sources, it has been revealed that at present 31.50 lakh consumers in Mumbai are of Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL), about seven lakh consumers are of Tata Power and 10.50 lakh consumers are of BEST. Apart from this, there are also some consumers of Maharashtra State Electricity Board.
