Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently expressed strong criticism towards Netflix India’s leadership, labeling them as “dishonest and morally corrupt.” His remarks were prompted by his admiration for the British miniseries “Adolescence,” which he praised for its bold storytelling and innovative execution.
Kashyap lauded “Adolescence” for its compelling performances and the creators’ dedication to filming each episode in a single shot. He expressed feelings of envy and jealousy that such daring content could be produced elsewhere, contrasting it with the creative limitations he perceives within Netflix India’s operations.
Reflecting on his experiences post-“Sacred Games,” Kashyap criticized Netflix India’s approach, accusing them of prioritizing subscription growth over creative integrity. He suggested that the platform’s leadership lacks empathy and courage, hindering the development of powerful and honest content in the Indian market.
