Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh welcomed their daughter, Dua, in September 2024. In a recent interview, Deepika shared insights into how they chose her name. They took nearly two months to decide, wanting to first connect with their baby and understand her emerging personality. Deepika, inspired by poetry and music, proposed the name “Dua,” meaning “prayer” in Arabic, to Ranveer via a late-night text while he was on set. He agreed instantly, feeling it beautifully encapsulated their feelings.
The couple announced her name on Instagram with a heartfelt message:
“Dua Padukone Singh | दुआ पादुकोण सिंह
‘Dua’: meaning a Prayer.
Because She is the Answer to our Prayers.
Our hearts are filled with Love & Gratitude.
Deepika & Ranveer”
Deepika also expressed gratitude towards Ranveer for his support during her pregnancy, noting that he encouraged her to decide when she felt ready for motherhood.
