PM greets ‘RRR’, ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ teams for winning Oscars
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated music director M.M. Keeravani and lyricist Chandra Bose after their song “Naatu! Naatu!” from the Telugu film “RRR” won the prestigious Oscar award.
Modi also congratulated the team of documentary film “The Elephant Whisperers” for winning the Oscar in the “Best Documentary Short Film” category.
“Exceptional! The popularity of ‘Naatu Naatu’ is global. It will be a song that will be remembered for years to come. Congratulations to @mmkeeravaani, @boselyricist and the entire team for this prestigious honour,” Modi tweeted after “Naatu! Naatu!” won the award.
He further added that the country is “elated and proud” of their achievement.
The Prime Minister also wished producer Guneet Monga and her team for their documentary “The Elephant Whisperers” winning the Oscar award.

This is the first time that two Indian productions have won the Oscar awards.
The 95th Academy awards function was held earlier in the day in Los Angeles.
Rajamouli screams, hugs wife as ‘Naatu Naatu’ wins
As ‘Naatu Naatu’ won the Best Song at the 95th Academy Awards, ‘RRR’ filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli had the most epic reaction as he was seen screaming in joy and hugging his wife.
A clip has gone viral showing Rajamouli’s reaction to the win. Rajamouli was seen with his wife and ‘RRR’ cast. When ‘Naatu Naatu’ was announced as the Best Song at the event, an excited Rajamouli got up screaming in joy at the win but he also hugged his wife, Rama Rajamouli.
Leaving behind names such as Lady Gaga, Diane Warren and Rihanna, ‘Naatu Naatu’ made history after contending against songs such as ‘Applause’ from ‘Tell It Like a Woman’, ‘Hold My Hand’ from ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, ‘Lift Me Up’ from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and ‘This Is a Life’ from ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’.
Music composer M.M. Keeravaani gave an emotional speech on receiving the award. ‘Naatu Naatu’ has also won a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award this year.
‘RRR’ stars NTR Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and Shriya Saran and tells the fictional story of two real-life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem and their fight against the British Raj.
Telugu states’ CMs compliment ‘RRR’ team on ‘Naatu Naatu’ win
The Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana expressed happiness Monday over the Oscar victory for ‘Naatu Naatu’ from the Telugu movie ‘RRR’.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy congratulated Music Director M.M. Keeravani, director S.S. Rajamouli, and team for winning the coveted Oscar Award in the Original Song category.
“The song, written by Chandra Bose and rendered by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, had amplified the notations of a variety of genres with effect, pace, beat and depth fluttering the Telugu prowess on the International scale to create history,” Reddy noted.
Conveying his best wishes to the entire unit for striking the Oscar chord with music to the ears of global audience, Reddy stated that the Award is icing on the cake of India cinema which recently celebrated its centenary celebrations.
In Hyderabad, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, expressed delight on ‘Naatu Naatu’ achievement at the Oscars.
“The lyrics of the song mirror the culture of Telangana and way of life of the Telugu people,” he stated. The lyricist Chandra Bose who hails from a village in Telangana, came in for special appreciation from the Chief Minister.
Stalin congratulates Guneet, Kartiki for ‘The Elephant Whisperers’
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin congratulated ‘The Elephant Whispers’ team for winning the Best Documentary Short Film award at the 95th Academy awards.
The Chief Minister tweeted: “Congrats to Kartiki Gonsalves &@guneetm on winning the #Oscar. No better news to wake up to than two women bringing the first ever Oscar for an Indian production. The patient making and the moving story of the #ElephantWhisperers deserve all the praises & accolades it it’s getting.”
The documentary was shot in Madumalai National Park in the lap of Nilgiri mountains in Tamil Nadu.
The 41-minute short documentary film was directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and produced by Guneet Monga. The director shot the movie patiently staying in the forest area for about five years. Kartiki was born and brought up in Udhagamandalam, Tamil Nadu.
Kartiki Gonsalves credited her “Motherland India” for the achievement at the academy hall after winning the Oscars.
The Elephant Whisperers is about the bond that develops between a couple, Bomman and Bellie of the Kattunayakan tribe and an orphaned baby elephant, Raghu who was entrusted to their care.
Guneet Monga, the producer of the movie Elephant Whisperers while taking to twitter immediately after winning the Oscar said: “We just win the first ever Oscar for an Indian production! Two women did this! I am still shivering.”
The Elephant Whisperers was nominated against ‘Haul Out’, ‘How Do You measure a Year ?’, ‘The Martha Mitchel effect’ and ‘Stranger at the Gate’.
Ajay Devgn on ‘Naatu Naatu’ Oscar win: It’s a proud moment for India
As ‘Naatu Naatu’ made history at the 95th Academy Awards, actor Ajay Devgn, who had a special role in S.S. Rajamouli’s film ‘RRR’, said that it is a proud moment for the nation.
Ajay, who played actor Ram Charan’s father in ‘RRR’, took to Instagram on Monday morning, and wrote: “As it is often said, cinema speaks a universal language. Congratulations to the teams of #RRR and #TheElephantWhisperers for their #Oscar wins. It’s a proud (Indian flag emoji) moment.”

With ‘Naatu Naatu’ notching up India’s first entertainment win at the Oscars, good wishes are pouring in. NTR Jr who is also attending the Awards event at Los Angeles reacted happily to the ‘RRR’ feat at the Oscars.
“I cannot find the words to express my elation right now. This is not just a win for RRR but for India as a country. I believe this is just the beginning. Showing us how far Indian cinema can go. Congratulations to Keeravaani garu and Chandrabose garu. Of course none of this would have been possible without a master storyteller called Rajamouli and the audiences who showered us with all the love.”
NTR Jr also complimented the ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ team, also from India, winning in the Short Documentary category.

NTR Jr, along with actor Ram Charan had featured in the iconic ‘Naatu Naatu’ number from the Rajamouli directorial.
‘Naatu Naatu’ win has father-son duo sharing Oscar glory
It’s a Monday that India will not forget in a hurry. It’s even more special for the father-son duo of music director M.M. Keeravani and playback singer Kaala Bhairava, who have worked on ‘Naatu Naatu’ which made history by winning an Oscar for the Best Original Song award.
While Keeravani has composed the music for the iconic song, his son Kaala Bhairava has lent his voice for the song, along with singer Rahul Sipligunj.
The 95th Oscar Awards show featured both of them, albeit at different points of time. The audience at the Dolby Auditorium in Los Angeles had the opportunity to listen to both, father and son on Monday morning, Indian Time.
Kaala Bhairava mesmerised the Oscars audience with his live rendition of ‘Naatu Naatu’ on stage. A little later, Keeravani got on stage to receive his award, he crooned a take-off on an old Carpenters’ number.
Keeravani is a well-known name in Tollywood, Bollywood, and Kollywood, while his son Kaala Bhairava has been making a name for himself as a playback singer.
Chiranjeevi on cloud nine as ‘Naatu Naatu’ wins Oscar for Best Original Song
Tollywood Megastar and actor Ram Charan’s father, Chiranjeevi was among the first to react to the historic moment when the song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from ‘RRR’ clinched the Oscar in the Best Original Song category.
Taking to his social media almost immediately after the magic moment of the announcement in Los Angeles, Chiranjeevi tweeted, “#Oscarsa-a-a- would have still been a dream for India but for One Man’s vision, courage & conviction @ssrajamouli !”
