Victims: The deceased have been identified as Manmohan Kamath (63), a resident of Madhuvan Apartments in BTM Layout 2nd Stage, and Dinesh (12), the son of a maintenance worker employed at the same complex.

Circumstances: Around 6:15 PM, Mr. Kamath was using an external motor to pump out accumulated rainwater from the basement. A short circuit occurred, leading to his electrocution. Dinesh, who was nearby, also suffered a fatal electric shock.

Response: Both individuals were rushed to St. John’s Hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.

Bengaluru experienced approximately 104 mm of rainfall within 24 hours, leading to widespread flooding in several low-lying areas. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the city, forecasting continued heavy rains over the next two days.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar stated that the government has identified 210 flood-prone areas in Bengaluru, with remediation completed in 166 of them. Efforts are ongoing to address the remaining vulnerable zones.
