New Delhi, December 7: Two bills related to Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2023, have been passed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. During the debate on the bill, Union Home Minister Amit Shah fiercely attacked Congress. Commenting on India’s first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, he said that ‘Jammu and Kashmir have suffered losses due to two mistakes made by former Prime Minister Nehru, first, declaring a ceasefire and second, taking the Kashmir issue to the United Nations. If Jawaharlal Nehru had taken the right step at that time, the part of Kashmir which is currently under Pakistan’s control, would have belonged to India. Jawaharlal Nehru had committed a historical mistake in the past.
Aiming for Congress, Home Minister Amit Shah said that Congress has always been doing vote-bank politics. If this had not been done, terrorism could have been dealt with in the beginning itself and Kashmiri Pandits would not have had to go anywhere except the valley.
Further, regarding the two bills related to Jammu and Kashmir passed in the Lok Sabha, he said that both these bills will provide justice to the people who have been deprived of their rights. This bill will provide representation in the Assembly to those who had to leave Kashmir. He also talked about the attack on Kashmir by Pakistan in 1947. Home Minister Amit Shah held Congress responsible for terrorism and said that terrorism spread during the time of Congress in the 1990s.

Regarding both the bills on Jammu and Kashmir, Home Minister Amit Shah said that one of the two bills on Jammu and Kashmir has a provision to nominate two members of the Kashmiri migrant community, including a woman, in the Assembly. Earlier there were 37 seats in Jammu, which has been increased to 43. Whereas earlier there were 46 seats in Kashmir, which has been increased to 47.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that there was an era of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir after the 1980s. At this time terrorism was at its peak, which was a horrifying scene. The people of this country were thrown out. No one cared about him nor did anyone try to stop him. Those responsible for stopping it were in England enjoying the holidays. Further, calling both the bills “New Kashmir” bills, he said in the Lok Sabha that both these bills will provide justice to the people who have been deprived of their rights for the last 70 years.
