Ahmedabad, Oct 2: Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel participated in the cleanliness drive in Ahmedabad under the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign. The initiative was organized in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a cleanliness drive, urging citizens from all walks of life to join it.
Amit Shah was involved in cleaning efforts in and around Ranip bus stop, while Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was engaged in a cleaning program at Laxmangarh hill in the Ghatlodiya area, which is part of his assembly constituency.
Both the leaders stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, which is also celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti.
The nationwide cleanliness campaign, launched on September 15, runs for a fortnight and aims to unite people across the country through various activities. The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘Garbage-Free India’, which highlights the importance of a clean and green nation.
