Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal will not appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday in a money laundering case linked to the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). Kejriwal has described this summon as illegal. The ED had sent the first summons in this case on Sunday.
ED has so far issued nine summons to Kejriwal in the money laundering case related to the new excise policy scam. Aam Aadmi Party sources have said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not appear on the summons of ED. According to the party, the source said that when bail has been obtained from the court, why is the ED repeatedly sending summons?
Questioning Bharatiya Janata Party, Aam Aadmi Party said why BJP wants to contest elections by hiding behind ED. The party said it wants to arrest the chief minister before the Lok Sabha elections.
Delhi minister and AAP leader Atishi had said on Sunday that two summons have been sent to the Chief Minister in two cases.
The Enforcement Directorate had issued a summons to Kejriwal under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act in connection with the Delhi Jal Board money laundering case. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been asked to appear before the probe agency on Monday, while on Thursday in the excise policy case.
He said that the timing at which the summons were issued clearly shows that the BJP is deliberately using agencies like the ED and CBI to target its political opponents.
AAP leader Atishi said that the central government is planning to arrest CM Kejriwal and disrupt his Lok Sabha election campaign.
