Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed for strict action in the Haldwani violence case and has sent ADG Law and Order AP Anshuman to the affected area to ensure peace and law and order.
In the matter of violence in Haldwani, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with ADG Law and Order as well as other officials in the Secretariat. In the meeting, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed ADG Law and Order AP Anshuman to camp in the Vanbhulpura affected area of Haldwani to ensure peace and law and order.
The Chief Minister has taken a strict view of the attack on police and administration officials and personnel during the removal of illegal construction and the incident of creating unrest in the area. He gave instructions to take strict action against anarchist elements.
While holding a high level meeting with senior officials at the Chief Minister’s residence, the Chief Minister directed that the District Magistrate should maintain constant coordination with Nainital.
To ensure peace and order in the area, the Chief Minister has instructed ADG Law and Order and District Magistrate Nainital to take strict action against the culprits of the incident.
He has said that all the rioters who were involved in stone pelting and arson should be identified and strict action should be taken against them.
The Chief Minister has given clear instructions to take the strictest action against those who play with law and order in the state. On this occasion, Special Principal Secretary/ADG Amit Sinha, Additional Secretary J. C Kandpal, Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagoli, Vinay Shankar Pandey were present.
On Thursday, an angry community pelted stones at the government staff due to the demolition of an illegal madrassa and a tomb while removing encroachment from the site already marked by the Municipal Corporation in Vanbhulpura area of Haldwani, Uttarakhand. Later arson was also done there. After which District Magistrate Vandana Singh ordered to impose curfew from 9 pm to maintain law and order.
Using the powers conferred under Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code 1973, the District Magistrate ordered the imposition of curfew in the entire Haldwani city. Raj curfew will remain in force from 9 pm till further orders.
The restrictive order states that no person will leave the house except for essential purposes (medical etc.). All business institutions, industries, shops etc. will remain completely closed. There is permission to keep hospitals and medicine shops open. The prohibitory order is not applicable to policemen, armed forces or government servants. Traffic will be allowed only for essential purposes.
