New Delhi, Oct 9: collectively having a recycling capacity of 5,000 tonnes, they are still short of meeting the daily debris production of 6,500 tonnes. Kejriwal announced plans to build an additional C&D plant in Okhla with a recycling capacity of 1,000 tonnes to bridge this gap. In addition, there will be a marginal increase in the capacity of existing plants.
The primary purpose of these C&D waste recycling plants is to convert construction and demolition waste into reusable materials like tiles and bricks. Kejriwal stressed that the transparent governance of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has significantly reduced corruption in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and employees now get their salaries on time. He compared this to the previous scenario, where employees often went without salaries for several months and the MCD was notorious for its corruption.
Kejriwal used the occasion to urge Delhi residents to actively participate in efforts to make the city clean and eco-friendly. The newly inaugurated recycling plant incorporates state-of-the-art technology that does not generate air pollution. It uses zero discharge technology and maintains low sound levels. With a strong commitment to green principles, the plant achieves an impressive 90-95% water recycling rate and eliminates wastewater discharge. This is an important step towards a more sustainable and eco-conscious Delhi.
