On Monday, Buckingham Palace said in a statement that Britain’s King Charles III has been diagnosed with cancer and has begun treatment. The palace has not disclosed the type of cancer King Charles III has.

King Charles III, 75, will not hand over his constitutional roles as head of state and will continue running the kingdom. But they will suspend all public activities.


“A form of cancer was identified during clinical trials,” it said in a statement.

Regarding this, the palace said, “Today His Majesty underwent routine treatment, then the doctors advised him to postpone public activities.” “His Majesty will continue to handle official paperwork and state business throughout this period.”

The palace said King Charles III is being treated as an outpatient and is responding positively to his treatment. He is keen to return to full public duty as soon as possible.

The palace said the king chose to make his diagnosis public to prevent speculation and provide public understanding to all people around the world affected by cancer.

Charles becomes king in September 2022. His mother, Queen Elizabeth II, remained on the throne for 70 years. Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96.
