Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday strongly condemned the deadly blast in Delhi that claimed the lives of eight people and left several others injured. He assured that those responsible for the attack “will not be spared” and promised swift action against the perpetrators.
The powerful explosion occurred in a busy market area of the national capital, causing widespread panic among locals and damaging nearby shops and vehicles. Emergency services and security personnel rushed to the spot, with the injured immediately taken to nearby hospitals. Authorities have since cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to determine the cause and those involved in orchestrating the blast.
In a statement posted on social media, Prime Minister Modi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the families of the victims. “The nation stands with those affected by this tragic incident. Those behind this cowardly act will not be spared,” he said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke with Delhi Police officials and senior intelligence officers, directing them to submit a detailed report and ensure no lapse in the investigation. Initial reports suggest that explosives were planted in a parked vehicle, though officials have not ruled out other possibilities.
Opposition leaders and civil society groups have joined in condemning the attack, urging unity and vigilance against acts of terror. Heavy security has been deployed across key areas of the capital, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to join the probe.
As rescue operations continue, authorities have appealed to the public to remain calm and report any suspicious activity. The tragic incident has once again raised concerns over urban security preparedness and the need for tighter surveillance in crowded public areas.
The Prime Minister reiterated that India’s fight against terrorism would continue with full force, emphasizing that “those who try to disturb peace and harmony will face the full weight of the law.”
