Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu on Saturday for a two-day visit, in view of this, Tamil Nadu Police has made three-tier security arrangements in Ramanathapuram district. During this visit, PM Modi will visit Rameshwaram temple and participate in various other programs organized in the district.
Regarding the security arrangements made for the Prime Minister, police sources said that Tamil Nadu Police has made three-tier security arrangements at Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple, the monastery where the Prime Minister will stay and its surrounding areas. The temple will remain closed for the public from 8 am to 6 pm on Saturday.
Tight security arrangements have been made in Dhanushkodi and its surrounding areas. Coast guard teams have been deployed to patrol the sea and central agencies have also issued warnings. Heavy security arrangements have been made at the Mandapam to closely monitor the rehabilitation camp for Sri Lankan Tamils there.
More than 3,400 police personnel have been deployed in Rameshwaram and other areas of the coastal district and intensive searches along with bomb disposal squad and dog squad are also being carried out.
Ramanathapuram District Collector Vishnu Chandran has issued an order regarding traffic arrangements and temple darshan. Also, during the two-day visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rameshwaram has been declared a drone-free zone.
Regarding traffic, the District Collector has ordered that traffic will be restricted from Ramanathapuram to Rameshwaram and Rameshwaram city area from 12 noon to 2:30 pm on Saturday and all types of public transport services will be stopped in Rameshwaram from 6 am to 12 noon on Sunday. Will remain banned.
Entry of heavy vehicles has been prohibited in Rameshwaram city on Saturday and Sunday. Traffic is restricted on Rameshwaram to Dhanushkodi road from 12 noon on Saturday to 12 noon on Sunday.
According to Zakari, the banned Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) is trying to gain land in Tamil Nadu. Ramanathapuram is a coastal district. Along with increasing the security of the Prime Minister, instructions have also been given to investigate by central and state intelligence.
