Bengaluru, Sep 14: Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte, who arrived in India to attend the G20 summit held in Delhi, had a pleasant experience during his visit to Bengaluru on Monday. Rutte, known for his pragmatic approach, enjoyed a cup of masala tea, a favorite drink of many Indians, as he also held an important meeting with senior Karnataka cabinet ministers, including Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
Rutte enthusiastically shared his experiences on X (formerly Twitter), posting photos and insights from his day in Bengaluru. He strolled down the cobblestone-paved Church Street in the center of town, engaging with locals, posing for selfies, and creating memorable moments. The highlight of Rutte’s culinary adventure was tasting masala chai at “Tea Point”, a popular café chain in India. Impressively, they made their payment using the Unified Payment Interface (UPI), a widely used digital payment system in India. Rutte expressed his attraction towards UPI keeping in mind its simplicity and convenience. The Indian government had earlier demonstrated UPI to G20 delegates as part of its technological advancements.
