The Supreme Court has rejected the bail plea of former Delhi Health Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain in the money laundering case and ordered his immediate surrender before jail authorities. At present, the AAP leader is on medical bail due to health reasons.
AAP leader Satyendar Jain’s lawyer sought a week’s time to surrender, which was granted by Justice Bela M. A bench headed by Trivedi, which also included Justice Pankaj Mithal, refused to entertain the plea.
The court dismissed all appeals and ordered Satyendar Jain to surrender immediately.
AAP leader Satyendra Jain was arrested in May 2022 in a money laundering case.
The apex court had initially granted interim relief to Satyendar Jain for six weeks in May last year on grounds of ill health, but the interim bail was extended on several occasions. Satyendar Jain had petitioned the Supreme Court for regular bail. Rejecting his demand, the highest court has issued an order to surrender immediately.
‘AAP’ leader Satyendar Jain will have to go to jail once again after this Supreme Court order. Three senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, former Delhi Health Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain and the party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh will be in jail together.
The Delhi High Court had rejected Satyendar Jain’s bail plea in April 2023 saying that he was an influential person who could tamper with evidence if granted bail.
