On October 12, startup CEO Suchana Seth posted a photo on Instagram with the hashtag ‘Whatwillhappen,’ featuring a child in front of an aquarium. Tragically, it has come to light that the 39-year-old woman allegedly killed her four-year-old son at a service apartment in Goa on January 8, stuffing his body in a suitcase while attempting to flee in a taxi.
The Instagram post, now inundated with comments, raises questions about the child’s identity, though Seth herself has not explicitly mentioned it in the caption. Two Instagram users claim to have been neighbors of the woman and describe her as a “loving mother” deeply concerned about her child’s health issues, particularly his breathing troubles.
One user recalls meeting the startup CEO three months ago and praises her as a “well-mannered cutest baby” and an attentive mother. Another user, claiming to be Seth’s neighbor for six months, refutes the possibility of her harming her son, asserting that she could “never even slap her son.” This user adds personal details, such as sharing meals and their shared Bengali heritage.
Seth’s last post on Instagram also includes hashtags like ‘findinglosing,’ ‘lifeisbeautiful,’ ‘holiday,’ and ‘magicofchildhood.’ She and her child had lived in a residential complex on Bengaluru’s Rachanahalli Road until a few months ago.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, neighbors described Seth as a quiet person, while her son was fond of playing with dogs. Police sources mention the discovery of a letter written with eyeliner inside the red suitcase, addressing a custodial battle over the child.
Goa police plan to take Seth back to the service apartment where the crime occurred to recreate the scene as part of the ongoing investigation. Seth, arrested in Chitradurga, Karnataka, has disclosed details about her troubled marriage during interrogation. Although she is in police custody for six days, officials are still working to determine the motive behind the murder.
Post-mortem results indicate that the four-year-old was smothered to death, possibly with a cloth or pillow. Two empty cough syrup bottles found at the scene suggest a premeditated act. Seth has undergone a psychological test to assess her mental state in an effort to uncover the motive for this tragic crime. The child’s father, Venkat Raman, cremated the body in Bengaluru on January 10.
