Om Prakash, a distinguished 1981-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from Bihar, served as the Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG & IGP) of Karnataka. He began his career as an Additional Superintendent of Police in Ballari district and was appointed as the state’s top police officer in March 2015.
On April 20, 2025, the 68-year-old was found dead with multiple stab wounds at his residence in Bengaluru’s HSR Layout. His wife, Pallavi, and daughter, Kruthi, were present at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest a domestic dispute, possibly over property matters, may have led to the incident. Pallavi reportedly confessed to the act during a video call to a friend, stating, “I have killed the monster.” She and her daughter have been detained for questioning as the investigation continues.
Om Prakash’s untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the law enforcement community, highlighting the complexities of personal relationships even among those who have dedicated their lives to upholding the law.
