China chides US for scrapping missile treaty with Russia

Beijing, Oct 22 (UITV/IANS) - China on Monday strongly opposed the US' decision to walk out of the decades-old nuclear arms treaty with Russia, saying the "wrong" move will have a negative impact on the world.

Beijing also said it was even "more wrong" if the pull-out by Washington had to do with China.

"We oppose the unilateral pull-out by the US. We have to stress that this fallout itself is wrong and it is even more wrong to bring China as a reason," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said here.

Brussels, Oct 21 (UITV/IANS)- India's Vice President Venkaiah Naidu visited the Jain Temple in the Belgian port city of Antwerp on Saturday where he addressed the Indian community.

The event, organised by the members of Indian Association in Belgium and the Jain Culture Centre, was also attended by Antwerp Governor Ms. Cathy Berx.

The function began with a Kathakali performance by Margi Kathakali Group from Trivandrum which presented "Geetopadesham", a performance based on the Bhagavad Gita.

Naidu began his address by mentioning the contributions and sacrifices made by Indian soldiers who fought alongside their Belgian counterparts during the First World War.

He praised the Indian community and their contributions to the continued success of Belgium as the hub of global diamond trade and towards the prosperity of the Belgian economy. The Indian Diaspora in Antwerp mostly came from Palanpur in Gujarat and contributes 80 per cent of the Belgium's global diamond trade.

Paris, Oct 22 (UITV/IANS)- French Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer on Monday advised schools to ban the use of cellphones if their presence was creating problems.

NASA names new gamma-ray constellations after Godzilla, Hulk

Washington, Oct 22 (UITV/IANS)- NASA has used certain characters from modern myths such as the "Hulk" and "Godzilla" to name its new set of 21 gamma-ray constellations constructed in celebration of its Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope's 10th year of operations.

Fermi has mapped about 3,000 gamma-ray sources -- 10 times the number known before its launch and comparable to the number of bright stars in the traditional constellations.

"For the first time ever, the number of known gamma-ray sources was comparable to the number of bright stars, so we thought a new set of constellations was a great way to illustrate the point," NASA's Goddard Space...
