US Department of Justice to probe Trump campaign 'infiltration'

Washington, May 21 (UITV/IANS) - The US Department of Justice will investigate whether FBI agents spied on President Donald Trump's 2016 election campaign for "inappropriate purposes", media reports said.

In a tweet, Trump said he wanted to know whether his predecessor Barack Obama's administration ordered such a move.

"I hereby demand, and will do so officially tomorrow (Monday), that the Department of Justice look into whether or not the FBI/DOJ infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political Purposes and if any such demands or requests were made by people within the Obama Administration!"

China calls mining report near Arunachal border 'groundless'

Beijing, May 21 (UITV/IANS) - China on Monday dismissed as "groundless" a report that it was mining gold on its side of the disputed border in Arunachal Pradesh.

UAE-based Aries Group to produce film using CSR funds

Kollam (Kerala) May 20 (UITV/IANS) - UAE-based Aries Group on Saturday announced it will use its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to produce 1,000 regional films in the next five years under its "Project Indywood".

The project will be launched with the pooja of a film titled "Aickkarakonathe Bhishaguaranmaar" at Punalur near here on Sunday, said Aries Group Chairman and CEO Sohan Roy.

"'Aickkarakonathe Bhishaguaranmaar; will mark the launch of Project Indywood's ambitious plan to produce 1,000 regional movies in India in the next five years. Besides prominent actors from the industry, twenty talents discovered through the national-level auditions conducted by Indywood Talent Hunt will play important roles in the movie," he told media here.

Biju Majeed will direct the film, whose script is written by K. Shibu Raj. P.C. Lal will wield the camera and Biju Ram will compose the music for the film, which would be shot in Kerala and completed in one schedule.

'Deadpool 2' mints over Rs 30 cr in opening weekend in India

New Delhi, May 21 (UITV/IANS)- Ryan Reynolds-starrer "Deadpool 2" has registered a business of Rs 33.4 crore net in its opening weekend in India.

The film collected Rs. 11.5 crore on Sunday, according to a statement issued on behalf of the makers.

"'Deadpool 2' has crossed the lifetime collection of 'Deadpool' (Rs 30 crore) over the weekend itself. It should eventually do more than double the previous instalment. The overall dubbed contribution is 49 per cent with Hindi contributing to 41 per cent of weekend collections," the statement added.

US Federal Trade Commission urged to "make Facebook safe for democracy"

San Francisco, May 21 (UITV/IANS) - A team of progressive advocacy groups has asked the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to "make Facebook safe for democracy" by breaking the social media giant's monopoly in the market.

According to technology website Axios, the group "Freedom From Facebook" is launching a six-figure ad campaign on Monday that will run on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter among other platforms.

"Facebook has too much power over our lives and democracy. It's time for us to take that power back," the team wrote on the official "Freedom From Facebook" website.
