Chicago Tribune endorses Raja Krishnamoorthi for US House race

Democrat Raja Krishnamoorthi

Illinois, Oct 13 (UITV)- In advance of the Nov. 8 election, a leading Chicago daily newspaper has endorsed Raja Krishnamoorthi for the Illinois 8th Congressional District that includes west and northwest Chicago suburbs.

The Chicago Tribune editorial board endorsed the Indian American candidate in an Oct. 19 article, writing that “what really sets him apart is a solid, enthusiastic grasp on issues, from immigration to the war on Islamic State.”

The Tribune noted that Krishnamoorthi’s resume is a good balance of business, government and political experience, describing his service as a former deputy treasurer for Illinois and assistant Illinois attorney general, along with his work as a small business leader now running two high-tech businesses in the national security and renewable energy sectors.

The 42-year-old president of Sivananthan Labs, Episolar Inc., and co-founder of InSPIRE, a non-profit organization, is facing Republican Peter DiCianni in the general election.

The son of immigrants, who grew up in Illinois has previously been endorsed by President Barack Obama and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and was recently named as a Democratic emerging leader.

Raja resides in Schaumburg with his wife Priya and their three children.
