There is a significantly high chance that we will be spending the holiday season inside this year, and that is most likely not through choice. However, for those of us who have a nice warm, and happy home to stay in, there is no need for it to make us have our spirits completely dampened.
If you have exceeded in watching the extensive catalog of Christmas films that have arrived on Netflix and have worn out the Christmas Hit’s playlist already – Why not try some DIY holiday crafts?
Not only will it get you in the Christmas spirit, but some crafts make excellent low cost presents too. Read this piece for inspiration.
A Holiday Card Christmas Tree
Cards are back in fashion this year. They are an excellent way to tell others we are thinking about them and involve a bit more effort than a Facebook post. If you are one of the lucky ones that receive Christmas cards by the handful, then why not make this fun Christmas card tree as a simple and fun decoration?
Simply position the cards in the shape of a Christmas tree on the wall and put the presents at the bottom on the floor!
Holiday Shakers
This cute little idea is low-cost and will make a great gift for both kids and adults. All you need are some large salt and pepper shakers, some Christmas decorations or toys of your choice such as small Christmas trees, tiny display carol singers, or deer, and then use salt for the snow underneath them inside the shakers!
Not everyone this year will be able to make DIY crafts as sweet as these, so consider a holiday donation as another great gift!
DIY Layered Garlands
Not only is this craft idea a great way to get out into the fresh outdoors, but they also make a lovely gift. Garlands look beautiful all year round, but for Christmas, you can pick seasonal plants to make them look festive!
Collect plants such as fresh cedar, holly berries, mistletoe, and any other greens that look lovely. Add some grapevine twigs to your collection and use a simple green or gold wire to affix the bundles together and to your door frame or furniture of choice.
DIY Table Runner
Nothing says festive like a table runner! The beauty of making your own is that you can choose any design you would like. This could be snowmen, holly leaves, or even Santa himself. All you have to do is have the correct colored card for your chosen Christmas design. When you have finished your shapes, simply line them down the table. You can attach them together with string to make them sturdier, use indents to make them 3D, and add baubles and bells too – Whatever your heart desires.
DIY Mint Sugar Scrub
Homemade sugar scrubs are lush. Not only do you know what ingredients are going into it, but you can customize it however you like! For a holiday feel, why not make a mint sugar scrub? Combine sugar and an oil of your choice, mint essential oil, and to make this particularly festive, a few drops of green food coloring. Then mix all together, place into a clean jar, and tie a bow around the lid with a red and white striped thread. Include a candy cane for extra bonus points!
