Google donates $12 million in cash, $25 million in ad grants to fight racism

San Francisco, June 4 (UITV/IANS)- Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced to give $12 million in funding to organisations working to address racial inequities amid nationwide protests against the death of African-American George Floyd.

The company would also offer $25 million in Ad Grants to help organisations fighting racial injustice provide critical information on its platforms.

Shimla, June 4 (UITV/IANS)- The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet at a meeting held here on Thursday gave its consent to constitute sixth state Finance Commission.

The commission will review the financial position of panchayats and urban local bodies and make recommendations to the Governor on measures needed to improve their financial position with determination of taxes, duties, tolls and fees and grants in aid.

The Cabinet, presided over by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, also decided to increase the honorarium of Jal Rakshaks, Para Fitters and Para Pump Operators in Jal Shakti Vibhag by Rs 300 per month.

39 injured in China kindergarten knife attack

Beijing, June 4 (UITV/IANS)- Thirty-seven children and two faculty members were injured in a knife attack at a kindergarten in China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Thursday, police said.

A security worker carried out the attack at the kindergarten affiliated to the central school of Wangfu Township in Cangwu County, Xinhua news agency reports.

All the injured have been sent to hospital, where two were said to be in critical condition.

An investigation into the incident is underway.

NEW DELHI, May 28 (UITV): The Indian diaspora in several countries has entered to help the thousands of Indians who were stranded ensuing the lockdown, Sanjay Bhattacharyya, secretary, overseas Indianaffairs and consular passports visas, ministry of external affairs, said addressing several people of Indian origin around the world, on Wednesday.
“People of Indian origin overseas are an energetic and powerful community and it is appreciated that they came forward to help their Indian brothers and sisters with food, shelter, counselling and in several other ways,” he said at a webinar dialogue on economic engagement between India and its diaspora arranged by the PIO Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Los Angeles, June 4 (UITV/IANS)-  Actress Lili Reinhart, who is popular as Betty Cooper in the show "Riverdale", has come out as a "proud bisexual" woman.

Reinhart took to Instagram Stories while promoting the West Hollywood LGBTQ+ for Black Lives Matter protest, and wrote: "Although I've never announced it publicly before, I am a proud bisexual woman. And I will be joining this protest today. Come join."

Seoul, May 29 (UITV/IANS) South Korea's government tightened up school quarantine and distancing rules on Friday as the novel coronavirus transmission in the greater Seoul area shows no signs of slowing.

In a precautionary move to stem community transmission, the Education Mnistry said it plans to limit the number of students at schools in the capital area, reports Yonhap News Agency.

Elementary and middle schools will be required to cap the number of students at one-third of the total student body and high schools at two-thirds, Vice Education Minister Park Baeg-beom said in a press briefing.

Microsoft rolls out Chromium-based Edge browser to all Windows 10 users

San Francisco, June 4 (UITV/IANS) Microsoft is rolling out its new Chromium-based Edge browser via an update to all Windows 10 users that would automatically be installed on Windows 10 version 1803 and higher.

The update would cover vast majority of Windows 10 versions that are currently supported. Installing Chromium Edge via the Windows Update will replace the old Edge browser. Since it is been gradually rolled out, it will reach people in the due course of time.

The Chromium-based Edge browser provides best-in-class compatibility with extensions and websites.
