Dutch Marathi community organising European Marathi Sammelan 2016 for Indian Diaspora

The Indian ambassador in the Netherlands, J.S.Mukul, will inaugurate the mega event along with celebrated film director Mahesh Manjrekar on April 15, 2016 at the Theater Hotel Almelo.

Netherlands, March 25 (UITV)- Marathi culture and traditions being kept alive in Europe by its scattered diaspora will be showcased at the European Marathi Sammelan 2016 (EMS2016) by the Dutch Marathi community for the third time in The Netherlands.

The Indian ambassador in the Netherlands, J. S. Mukul, will inaugurate the event along with celebrated film director Mahesh Manjrekar on April 15 at the Theater Hotel Almelo. Netherlands Marathi Mandal, is playing the key role in the hosting of this year’s EMS.

The European Marathi Sammelan established in 1998 by Late Dr. Anand Pandav, with the sole purpose to bring together all Marathi diaspora residing in Europe and enjoys Marathi social-cultural programmes. This is the event that promotes Marathi culture through its rich and varied arts, literature and drama for the people residing in Europe, thereby keeping the Marathi language and culture alive in their hearts.

EMS offers a platform to local Marathi community to showcase their talent in presenting Marathi culture and tradition. It also provides great opportunity to meet Marathi community from all over Europe and closely interact with the invited celebrities, European performers and enjoy the Dutch hospitality.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and famous Marathi actor Nana Patekar have sent their best wishes for the event, said organisers. The organisers have also arranged interactive sessions with the various social activists working in different parts of Maharashtra.
