Donald Trump names Mick Mulvaney as acting White House chief of staff

Washington, Dec 15 (UITV/IANS) - US President Donald Trump on Friday named budget director Mick Mulvaney as acting chief of staff, a week after he announced John Kelly's scheduled departure.

"I am pleased to announce that Mick Mulvaney, Director of the Office of Management & Budget, will be named Acting White House Chief of Staff, replacing General John Kelly, who has served our Country with distinction," said Trump in a tweet, Xinhua reported.

The president added that he looked forward to working with Mulvaney in the latter's new capacity, and that Kelly will stay until the end of the year.

New Delhi, Dec 15 (UITV/IANS) - Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the country's first deputy Prime Minister, on his 68th death anniversary.

"Remembering the great Sardar Patel on his Punya Tithi. His thoughts, rich work and strong effort towards India's unity inspire generations of Indians," Modi tweeted.

The Congress party also remembered Patel. It said in a tweet: "Sardar Vallabhai Patel, known as 'Iron Man of India', was the first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of independent India.

5 killed in Afghanistan shooting

Mazar-e-Sharif (Afghanistan), Dec 15 (UITV/IANS) - Four civilians and one police officer were killed and five were wounded after gunmen fired on people attending a funeral ceremony in Afghanistan's Balkh province on Friday, the police said.

"The incident occurred at midday in Dawlat Abad district, the attackers fled the scene after the firing and police personnel launched a pursuit operation against the fleeing rebels," district police chief Abdul Latif told Xinhua news agency.

Among those killed was an Afghan local police official Mohammad Akhtar.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Bombay Talkies was a popular haunt for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in Singapore; but it couldn’t able offer a much better experience to cinema-goers.
Mr.Sunil (Managing Director) has been at the helm of driving Carnival’s expansion since its entry in Singapore in August 2017. Carnival acquired two more new properties earlier in the year; Rex Mackenzie and Rex Golden Mile both are hubs for the Indian community in Singapore.


Bombay Talkies is the first screen in overseas, Carnival started global domination from Singapore. It has aimed to continuous expansion of domestic and international markets.  
International expansion journey progressed toward the Middle East also, Earlier in July this year, the company has entered has acquired Qatar-headquartered highly popular Novo Cinemas from Elan Group – the largest overseas acquisition deal for any Indian multiplex. The company is strengthening its foothold globally.

Disney fires 'Andi Mack' actor after his arrest on charge of sexual exploitation

Los Angeles, Dec 15 (UITV/IANS)- Actor Stoney Westmoreland, a 48-year-old actor who plays the grandfather on Disney Channel sitcom "Andi Mack", has been fired by the channel following his arrest for allegedly trying to arrange a sexual liaison with a 13-year-old he met online.

"Stoney Westmoreland, an actor working on the series ‘Andi Mack,' was arrested in Salt Lake City today," a representative for Disney Channel said in a statement Friday night, reports deadline.com.

NASA photographs Mars InSight lander from space

Washington, Dec 14 (UITV/IANS)- NASA has pinpointed the exact landing location of its newly launched InSight lander, using a powerful camera onboard another of the agency's spacecraft, hovering around the Red Planet.

On November 26, InSight landed within a 130 km ellipse at Elysium Planitia on Mars. However, there was no way to determine exactly where it touched down within this region.
