Mark Zuckerberg says Black lives matter, will address racial injustice

San Francisco, June 6 (UITV/IANS)- Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Saturday tried to address growing unrest among the employees over the poor handling of controversial posts by US President Donald Trump, saying the company has started a workstream for building products to advance racial justice.

Several current and former Facebook employees have criticized Zuckerberg's inaction over controversial posts from the US President on glorifying violence, calling him to start fact-checking world leaders and labeling harmful posts.

Uddhav Thackeray takes a boat to cyclone-ravaged Raigad

Mumbai, June 5 (UITV/IANS)- Two days after Cyclone Nisarga claimed six lives and wreaked havoc in over a dozen districts, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday hopped onto a boat to visit Raigad - the worst-hit in Maharashtra.

He took a Ro-Ro boat for the hour-long ride from Bhaucha Dhakka in south Mumbai to Alibaug on the mainland, accompanied by Ministers Aditya Thackeray, Aslam Shaikh, Additional Chief Secretary A. K. Singh and other senior officials.

At Raigad, he was scheduled to visit some of the worst-hit villages along with Collector Nidhi Choudhari and Superintendent of Police Anil Paraskar and others.

Pyongyang vows to abolish inter-Korean liaison office

Seoul, June 6 (UITV/IANS)- North Korea has vowed to abolish an inter-Korean liaison office as a responsive measure against anti-Pyongyang leaflets sent from South Korea, even after Seoul promised to ban such leaflet campaigns, it was reported on Saturday.

The United Front Department (UFD), which handles inter-Korean affairs, said in a statement on Friday that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's sister, Kim Yo-jong, ordered officials to look into implementing a series of measures she threatened to take a day earlier unless Seoul stops North Korean defectors from sending such leaflets, reports Yonhap News Agency.

MEA: Indians with global citizenship help stranded indians substantially

NEW DELHI, May 28 (UITV): The Indian diaspora in several countries has entered to help the thousands of Indians who were stranded ensuing the lockdown, Sanjay Bhattacharyya, secretary, overseas Indianaffairs and consular passports visas, ministry of external affairs, said addressing several people of Indian origin around the world, on Wednesday.
“People of Indian origin overseas are an energetic and powerful community and it is appreciated that they came forward to help their Indian brothers and sisters with food, shelter, counselling and in several other ways,” he said at a webinar dialogue on economic engagement between India and its diaspora arranged by the PIO Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Los Angeles, June 5 (UITV/IANS)- Hollywood star Angelina Jolie feels discrimination and impunity cannot be justified in any way, and says she hopes people in the US can come together to "address the deep structural wrongs in our society".

The Oscar-winning star, who turned 45 on Thursday, also donated $200,000 to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, reports people.com.

Seoul, May 29 (UITV/IANS) South Korea's government tightened up school quarantine and distancing rules on Friday as the novel coronavirus transmission in the greater Seoul area shows no signs of slowing.

In a precautionary move to stem community transmission, the Education Mnistry said it plans to limit the number of students at schools in the capital area, reports Yonhap News Agency.

"Successful deployment of 60 Starlink satellites confirmed," SpaceX tweeted late on Wednesday.

The launch came less than a week after the rocket builder sent two NASA astronauts to the International Space Station on a Falcon 9 rocket over the weekend.
