Fourth Seychelles-India Day celebration kicks off on Friday

Indian food and snacks is on the menu this weekend as the Seychelles - India Day gets underway

Victoria, Oct 15 (UITV)- The fourth Seychelles-India Day event kicked off on Friday, including the inauguration of the Fun and Food Fair that runs through Sunday.

The Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Panda said it is a delight to see that the committee with the support of its partners has been able to host the fourth Seychelles-India Day celebrations. It is a beautiful way to start this three-day event by making a donation and contributing to a good cause.

He added that during the three days, Seychelles will get the chance to discover the Indian culture not only through musical performances by the top Indian artists coming here, but throughout the various other activities.

Seychelles Minister of Tourism and Culture, Alain St. Ange told the Indian community members gathered that: “You are our partners in culture and it is through culture that we keep on defeating that melting point that makes the Seychellois people who we are.”

He said it is through culture that we will keep on shining and it is together as one people that we will continue to prosper. He added that Indian is one of the five branches that we contributed to make Seychelles the melting pot of cultures that it is today.

Chairperson of the Seychelles-Indian Day organizing committee Ramu Pillay thanked the government, Minister St. Ange and his team as well as the Indian High Commissioner for their support.

Activities on the programme will include the annual food and fun fair in Victoria during throughout the three days, culinary cookery show on October 15 at the Avani Seychelles Barbarons Resort and Spa, a free musical show featuring top Indian artists at Stad Popiler in Victoria.
