Facebook bans ads for weapon accessories before Joe Biden event
San Francisco, Jan 17 (UITV/IANS)- Facebook has announced to ban ads that promote weapon accessories and protective equipment in the US at least through January 22, as the country prepares for the Inauguration Day on January 20.
"We already prohibit ads for weapons, ammunition and weapon enhancements like silencers. But we will now also prohibit ads for accessories such as gun safes, vests and gun holsters in the US," the company said in a statement last on Saturday.

Bhadravathi (Karnataka), Jan 17 (UITV/IANS)- Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has successfully fought against the coronavirus in the world.
Shah was addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone for the 97th Battalion of Rapid Action Force (RAF) at Bullapura village here on Saturday.
The Home Minister said that with the beginning of the vaccination drive, the country has taken the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic to a final stage.

Chinese mainland reports 109 new Covid-19 cases
Beijing, Jan 17 (UITV/IANS)- The Chinese mainland has reported 109 new Covid-19 cases, of which 96 were locally transmitted and the rest 13 arrived from outside, the National Health Commission said on Sunday.
Of the locally transmitted cases, 72 were reported in Hebei, 12 in Heilongjiang, 10 in Jilin, and two in Beijing, the Commission said in its daily report.
A new suspected case arriving in Shanghai from outside the mainland was reported Saturday, Xinhua news gency reported.
By the end of Saturday, a total of 4,502 imported cases had been reported on the mainland.

India has world's largest diaspora: UN
United Nations, Jan 16 (UITV/IANS) India has the world's largest diaspora with about 18 million people born there now living abroad, according to John Wilmoth, the director of UN's Population Division at the Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
Presenting the International Migration Report 2020 on Friday, he said that the US was the top host country for migrants with 51 million of them or 18 per cent of the world's total living there.
The report said that between 2000 and 2020, the size of the migrant population abroad grew for nearly all countries and areas of the world with India experiencing the largest gain of nearly 10 million during that period, going from the third place in 2000 for the number of migrants to the first spot in 2020.
The report takes a broad view of migrants, including also students and those going abroad for family reunions in the definition.
Explaining the phenomenon of the migration from India, UN's Population Affairs Officer Clare Menozzi said: "The Indian diaspora is one of the most vibrant dynamic world... It's present in all continents, in all regions."

Mumbai, Jan 17 (UiTV/IANS) - Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has switched on his poet mode and shared it on social media for his fans and followers.
Ayushmann posted a string of pictures on Instagram. In the photos, he is seen standing on a rooftop flaunting his long hair and dressed in a horizontal striped black and white T-shirt.

Delhi HC seeks CBSE's response on issuance of certificates to transgender
New Delhi, Jan 14 (UITV/IANS) The Delhi High Court on Thursday sought Centre and Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) response on an application seeking issuance of Class X and XII certificates to a transgender person reflecting the name, gender and photograph in accordance with his self-identified gender.
The petitioner is a transgender who identifies himself as a male.
According to the petition, filed on his behalf by advocates Amritananda Chakravorty, Mihir Samson and Shreya Munoth, the person had undergone gender affirming surgery in order to align his body with his self-identified gender.

WhatsApp delays new data privacy policy by 3 months
New Delhi, Jan 16 (UITV/IANS) Facing intense criticism worldwide amid a court case in India, WhatsApp has deferred its new data privacy policy by three months and no one will lose his or her account from February 8 for not accepting the updated terms of service, the Facebook-owned platform said on Saturday.
WhatsApp said they are moving back the date by three months to May 15 on which people will be asked to review and accept the terms.
"No one will have their account suspended or deleted on February 8. We're also going to do a lot more to clear up the misinformation around how privacy and security works on WhatsApp," the company informed....
