Indian ambassador holds briefing in Riyadh for Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

Riyadh, Oct 27 (UITV)- The Indian embassy in Riyadh convened a briefing session as a part of the ongoing efforts by the Government of India and related agencies to make the upcoming Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PDB) event in January 2017 a success.

Addressing the session with the members of Indian community, Indian ambassador Ahmed Javed emphasized that the message of PBD should be propagated to make the event great success. It was attended by the crux of Indian community in Riyadh and called for empowering the NRI voice by utilizing the platforms like PBD event to its possible maximum.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the event which will have interactive sessions with the centre and state governments to identify and resolve issues faced by NRIs. It is aiming to gather around 3,000 NRI and PIO delegates from around the globe.

Ambassador Ahmed Javed briefed the audience about the various social welfare measures undertaken by the government of India for the benefit of Indians living abroad, particularly NRIs in the Gulf countries and urged the Indian community in Saudi Arabia to attend the event in large numbers.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2017 will also see awards being given to 30 distinguished NRIs who have contributed to the growth of the country, inside or outside India. 400 students from across the world will participate in the event and interact with the Union Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj.
