Indo-Canadian Deepak Ruparell is Tanzania’s Honorary Consul in Toronto

Toronto, Sep 22 (UITV)- Indo-Canadian Deepak Ruparell, founder of Silver Hotel Group, one of the largest privately owned hotel investment, development and management companies in Canada, has been named Tanzania’s Honorary Consul in Toronto – yet another instance of the growing clout and importance of the 1.3 million strong Indo-Canadian community.

India’s Consul-General in Toronto Dinesh Bhatia told : “We are proud of all PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin) who are doing well in Canada. Deepak is a prominent member of the Indo-Canadian community and I am very happy on his appointment.”

Deepak was educated in East Africa, Great Britain and Canada and completed his Diploma in hotel and restaurant administration in 1975 and he now employs over 1,000 team members through all his companies.

He is the national Co-Chair of the Canada India Foundation that strives for deeper engagement of Canada with India through public policy initiatives that serves the mutuality of interests of both countries.

He is the fourth Indo-Canadian to get this high honor : Businessman and community leader Ben Sennik is Hony Consul of Mauritius in Toronto. Calgary-based real estate magnate Bob Dhillon is Hony Consul of Belize in Alberta. Businessman Navin Chandaria is Honorary Consul of Uganda in Toronto.

He has played significant role in several fundraising and community initiatives of the BAPS Swami Narayan temple of Toronto that has built iconic architectural building and a place of worship for a very large and vibrant section of the Indian diaspora in Canada.
