International Flower Festival, Sikkim

This month long festival is organised by the Government of Sikkim that not only promotes tourism, but also highlights the diversity of nature of the place.

India, May 25 (Uitv) - This festival brings together a range of fun filled activities, the beauty of flowers and some decent knowledge about plantations. Many species of orchids, gladioli, cacti, roses, trees, ferns, alpine plants, creepers, climbers, are displayed during the show.


A range of regional delicacies for your taste buds are also there. For the ones who love adventure, there is river rafting. Another interesting feature of the Flower festival in Sikkim is the Yak Safari.


The Flower Festival of Sikkim is an extra tourist attraction in the lower Himalayan State

The weather of the North-Eastern state gives the opportunity to the government to hold National and International Flower Festivals every year


Each state, race and culture comes up with different fairs and festivals that are different from each other, each with different origin and each has a different way of celebration


This year, the International Flower Festival will be organised from 1st May 2017 to 31st May 2017 in Gangtok


International Flower Festival, Gangtok showcases different varieties of flower that are native to Sikkim. This festival is held during the peak flowering season in Sikkim and attracts tourist from all over India.


The Festival showcases various kind of unique flowers of Sikkimese valley  


Different species of flowers are showcased in the fair. Thirty species of exotic Rhododendron ranging from gigantic to 2 inches in length are exhibited in the show.

The other pride of Sikkim is its orchid of which 400 different kind grow within its boundaries. Both the epiphyte and the terrestrial varieties are showcased.
