Kao Sok park may be a must-visit destination for people that want to immerse themselves within the natural great thing about Thailand. The remnants of an ancient rainforest stretch across the park, which is split by a dramatic limestone range . quite 5 percent of the world’s animal species are often found during this lovely park , which also boasts networks of dirt trails, soaring waterfalls, and a gorgeous lake.

Today’s landscape was founded 66 million years ago. The heavily weathered limestone karst was once part of a coral reef system, five times longer than the Great Barrier Reef that stretched from Borneo to China. Because the ice age did not affect Khao Sok, it’s rainforest is older than the forests of Central America and the Amazon.

The virgin forests of the park have differing types of flowers including variety of very rare and sacred tree species. The botanical richness of the region, the abundance of freshwater and therefore the protection offered by a particularly rugged terrain make Khao Sok prime habitat to a good sort of wildlife.

Together with the wildlife sanctuaries of Klong Saeng and Klong Nakha located to the north of Khao Sok, Sri Phang Nga park to the west, and Klong Phanom park to the south, this is often the most important protected forest area in Southern Thailand and therefore the only viable habitat for mammals needing extensive tracts of old growth for his or her survival.
