Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UITV)- Extending hand of friendship to Indian diaspora is a key element of the Modi government’s foreign policy. Indian origin leaders from Mauritius are no strangers to India.

Prime Minister of Mauritius Anerood Jugnauth has undergone cataract and glaucoma surgery at the private hospital in Hyderabad. As he had both closure glaucoma and cataracts in both eyes, the operation was difficult according to surgeons.

“One of the reasons for which I decided to receive medical treatment in India was the good reputation in terms of specialists, medical products and surgical procedures,” said the Prime Minister, Anerood Jugnauth.

The surgery had been performed by Dr Kasu Prasad Reddy, chief surgeon and co-chairman of Maxivision Eye Hospital. The doctor said Mr. Jugnauth had chosen Hyderabad and this hospital for surgery of both eyes where a combination of four technologies including the ‘Victus Femtosecond Laser’ where he had done primary prototype research work was utilized for the operations.

“Hyderabad made impressive strides in recent years and in surging ahead with new facilities and technology. The staffs and doctors were very good and supportive,” added the Mauritius PM.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Dr Reddy informed, “The 84-year-old has recovered completely and will be flaying back early next week.”

The PM was scheduled to address the media but backed out at the last minute on the ground that it was a private visit. However, thanking Dr Reddy, he said, “I would recommend the patients in my country to seek medical treatment in India.”
