US President Donald Trump vows to defeat 'radical left' in I-Day speech

Washington, July 05 (UITV/IANS) - US President Donald Trump has used his Independence Day speech to tout the country's "progress" against the COVID-19 pandemic, despite a nationwide spike in cases and vowed to defeat the "radical left, the Marxists, the anarchists, the agitators, the looters".

"We are now in the process of defeating the radical left, the Marxists, the anarchists, the agitators, the looters, and people who in many instances have absolutely no clue what they are doing," Xinhua news agency quoted Trump as saying during his speech at the South Lawn on Saturday.

Congress questions appointment of Protem Speaker in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, July 05 (UITV/IANS) - Rameshwar Sharma has been made the Protem Speaker of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The Congress has questioned the appointment of Sharma and termed it illegal.

State Backward Class Commission Chairman J.P. Dhanopia said that all democratic traditions have been being ignored by the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state. The Protem Speaker is made up of an MLA who is a senior and has served on the Speaker's panel for the last five years, but Sharma does not meet this criteria, so his appointment is invalid and should be repealed immediately.

Malaysia's ruling coalition wins first by-election

Kuala Lumpur, July 05 (UITV/IANS) - Malaysia's ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition won its first by-election by a landslide since coming to power in March.

The Election Commission said on Saturday that the candidate from United Malay National Organization (UMNO) that representing PN defended its Chini state-assembly seat in Pahang state, won 13,872 votes, reports Xinhua news agency.

The two other competing independent candidates obtained 1,222 and 137 votes respectively, the Commission added.

The by-election was held following the death of UMNO assemblyman Abu Bakar Harun from a heart attack in May.

155 companies of indian origin have over $22 bn investments in US: Report

New Delhi, June 17 (UITV/IANS) A total of 155 companies with origins in India are responsible for generating over $22 billion in investments and nearly 1.25 lakh jobs in the US, according to a report by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The report titled 'Indian Roots, American Soil 2020' showed that the states with the top concentrations of Indian companies reporting were New Jersey, Texas, California, New York, Illinois and Georgia.

The corporate social responsibility (CSR) and research and development expenditure of the companies stood at $175 million and $900 million, respectively.

Texas, California, New Jersey, New York, and Florida are home to the greatest number of workers in the US directly employed by the reporting Indian companies.

The surveyed companies disclosed the highest amounts of foreign direct investment (FDI) were in Texas, New Jersey, New York, Florida, and Massachusetts.

Indian investments in 20 US states stand at over $100 million each, showed the survey.

Wahlberg has children Ella, 16, Michael, 14, Brendan, 11, and Frace, 10, with his wife Rhea Durham.

Gadag (Karnataka), July 3 (UITV/IANS) A grieving Class X student wrote her last SSLC board exam in Karnataka's Gadag despite her father passing away early in morning on Friday, an official said.

"Holding back tears, an emotional 16-year-old Anusha Bhajantri mustered the courage to write her last SSLC board exam in Hindi (third language), hours after her father died at home early morning due to sudden illness," Gadag block education officer S.S. Keladi Mata told IANS over phone.

Gadag is about 380 km northwest of Bengaluru.

San Francisco, July 5 (UITV/IANS)-  After exposing TikTok, the game-changing Beta version of iOS 14 has now spotted Microsoft-owned LinkedIn allegedly copying content from Apple users' clipboards.

First reported by ZDNet, the iOS 14 which is being tested by the developer community and would be released for public later this fall, caught LinkedIn copying clipboard data with every keystroke with its new privacy feature.

Don Morton, CEO at career portfolio site builder Urspace discovered that LinkedIn was copying his clipboard contents on every keystroke.
