NAIC to recall and modify the M-46

Anti-Sikh riot in 1984

Vancouver, April 28 (UITV):  The National Alliance of Indo- Canadian (NAIC) has called on the Members of Provincial Parliament (MMP) of the Ontario Assembly. It has been done to recall and modify the M-46 motion which characterizes the 1984 Anti-Sikh riots as “genocide”.

“The NAIC calls upon the Ontario political leadership, to recall and modify the motion M-46 by removing inaccurate use of the word genocide,” the statement has been published in a public weekly in Canada.

The anti-Sikh riots were triggered by the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on 31st October 1984, by two of her Sikh bodyguards in response to her action authorizing the military operation at the Golden Temple to eliminate insurgents.
