Nepotism, a chiffon family business and a legacy of privilege

Nepotism

Bengaluru, Sep 8 (UITV): If you are a regular user of Social Media you would know this newfangled word ‘Nepotism’. This word has been made popular recently by Bollywood Actress Kangana Ranaut, with her boldness in the Popular Chat show, where she claimed that Karan Johar is the flag-bearer of nepotism. It is very obvious that nepotism exists in every kind of field where Business is taken over by his son, or even the politician’s place is taken over by his son, the same situation is taken over in Bollywood. But Every Coin has its 2 sides.

Karan Johar

Even though Amitabh Bachchan’s Stardom couldn’t help Abhishek in Bollywood but at least he got a chance to launch himself numerous times, adding to the list is Jackie Bhagnani, Sonam Kapoor, Athiya Shetty, Uday Chopra, and Harman Baweja.

But contrary to this there are also Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor where they have proved their mark with their talent.

The Debate is not about being fair and unfair, but about the opportunities that many do not get. While Karan told Kangana to leave the industry or even fixing a gag in the Award Function, this does not give the rights to claim the industry.

The actions of Karan Literally proved him as ‘The Movie Mafia’.

While getting on the debate Kangana proved a correct point about stragglers and star kids. Star kids do get a massive launch and well guidance whereas the normal people strive for a Movie. Star kids are already dressed ad well-groomed as they are taught these skills since childhood.

Alia Bhatt

But that does not prove that the star kids don’t deserve to be in industry, actors like Alia, Kareena and Ranbir have made their mark.

Kareena Kapoor

Basically a recent statement given by Kareena to a popular magazine stated the correctness of the issue, where she said, ‘If we have Ranbir we have Ranveer as well, and if we have Alia we have Kangana as well’.

While there are production companies who claim that they give chance to the new comers, which is true to some extent. Yash Raj Films and Dharma Productions have given the industry a few leading actors in the past decade whom have proven that you don’t have to be from the industry to be good,  Ranveer Singh, Sushant Singh Rajput and Anushka Sharma.

Ranveer Singh

Dharma has given us Sidharth Malhotra. I applaud directors like Anurag Kashyap, Subhash Ghai and Mahesh Bhatt for always introducing new actors who are not connected to the industry.

But still the question is how is it possible that in an open audition where hundreds of people come out, at the end, only star kids ends up getting the lead role?
