The lush Okavango Delta is like a real-world Eden, where cheetahs, zebras, buffalo, and rhinos roam freely.

Bostawana, May 26 (Uitv) - The Okavango Delta is a vast inland river delta in northern Botswana. It's known for its sprawling grassy plains, which flood seasonally, becoming a lush animal habitat.

The Moremi Game Reserve occupies the east and central areas of the region. Here, dugout canoes are used to navigate past hippos, elephants and crocodiles. On dry land, wildlife includes lions, leopards, giraffes and rhinos.

The sheer beauty of the Okavango is complemented by the high concentration of game located in its vicinity.

In the dry-season months of July through to October, this park is the central destination of a reported 5 million mammals in their search for water. Game viewing is outstanding.

The delta covers between 6 and 15 000 square kilometres of Kalahari Desert in northern Botswana

The Okavango is renowned also for the fact that the majority of the park is divided into private reserves.

The delta owes its existence to the Okavango River which flows from the Angolan highlands.

The camps here may be pricey, but they are also regarded as some of the finest on the continent. We would say that overall camp standards are the best of any country.

The Okavango Delta is celebrated for its water safari activities. From zooming through the waterways on a powerboat to drifting along in a mokoro, your guide will reveal the secrets of the Delta, while you enjoy seeing tiny frogs and beautiful birdlife, from the lilac breasted roller to the larger waterbirds such as herons, storks and if you’re lucky, the Pel’s Fishing owl.
