Donald Trump slams Congress, FBI for not investigating Obama's payment to Iran

Washington, Feb 19 (UITV/IANS) - US President Donald Trump on Sunday criticised Congress, the FBI and the Department of Justice for not investigating the Barack Obama government's 2016 payment of hundreds of millions of dollars to Iran to resolve an international dispute.

"Never gotten over the fact that Obama was able to send $1.7 billion in CASH to Iran and nobody in Congress, the FBI or Justice called for an investigation!" Trump wrote on his Twitter account.

Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen seeks extension of state of emergency

Male, Feb 19 (UITV/IANS) - Maldives President Abdulla Yameen on Monday requested Parliament to extend the state of emergency for a further 15 days amid the ongoing political crisis.

Parliament, which was convened for a special session, was now discussing the President's request and will soon take a vote among legislators, reports Xinhua news agency.

A decision will be announced soon.

Yameen had declared a 15-day state of emergency on February 5, after a surprise Supreme Court ruling ordering the release of nine opposition leaders including self-exiled former President Mohamed Nasheed.

German orchestra played 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' in Berlin

Berlin, Feb 19 (UITV/IANS): Filmmaker Karan Johar says he felt honoured and excited after listening to a German chamber orchestra playing songs from "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", which launched him as a director in 1998.

Karan is representing Indian cinema at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival where the orchestra played some tunes from the Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji-starrer.

The Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra gave a rendition of "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai".

"Was so excited and honoured to see this! 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'," Karan tweeted on Sunday.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is participating in the European Film Market from February 16-18 in Berlin. The Indian delegation, which also consists of filmmakers like Jahnu Barua and Shaji Karun, is being led by Karan.

Later, Karan also took a quiz related to the film on Twitter.

"I can't believe that I didn't get all right! Shameful!" he tweeted.

"Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", a romantic drama, followed the lives of three characters -- Anjali, Rahul and Tina.

Anne Hathaway may star in “The Last Thing He Wanted”

Los Angeles, Feb 19 (UITV/IANS): Actress Anne Hathaway is in talks to star in director Dee Ree’s "The Last Thing He Wanted", which is based on the Joan Didion's political thriller.

Marco Villalobos penned the screenplay, which is "a thrilling story of one woman, alone and unrelenting in a race against time", read a statement to variety.com.

The film will be co-produced by Cassian Elwes.

Elwes optioned the book from Didion to develop it with Rees after their collaboration on "Mudbound", which received four Academy Award nominations, including one for Rees for adapted screenplay.

Novel blood test can say autism in kids

London, Feb 19 (UITV/IANS): In a first of its kind, scientists have developed novel tests that can indicate autism in children, a finding that could lead to earlier diagnosis of the developmental disorder that impairs the ability to communicate and interact.

The new blood and urine tests searches for damage to proteins and could lead to earlier detection of autism and advance treatment.

SpaceX Falcon 9 will be launched on 21st February

San Francisco, Feb 19 (UITV/IANS): Elon Musk-run SpaceX will now launch its Falcon 9 rocket carrying Starlink broadband satellites and the Paz radar-imaging satellite for Spain on Wednesday.

Earlier scheduled for February 17, SpaceX delayed the launch, saying more time was needed for final checks of the Falcon 9 rocket's upgraded payload fairing, Space.com reported late on Sunday.

"Team at Vandenberg is taking additional time to perform final checkouts of upgraded fairing," SpaceX representatives tweeted.

The Falcon 9's launch is scheduled from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
