There will be full Co-operation in development of agriculture and allied sectors to Suriname from India

Lekhram Soerdjan with Radha Mohan Singh

New Delhi, 31-Oct-2018 (UITV) - "India is ever ready to share its expertise and technological know-how through Line of Credit and as in the past, would like to work closely with Suriname for the benefit of the people of Suriname" Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, India.


There was a meeting between Lekhram Soerdjan, Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries of the Republic of Suriname and Radha Mohan Singh to enhance bilateral cooperation in agriculture and allied sectors for the benefit of the people of Suriname.


Coming to the historical and cultural ties between India and Suriname, it shows the 145 years successful journey of both countries.
To build capacity of the farmers/agricultural scientists in various areas relating to agriculture and allied sectors, Indian Joint Working Group (JWG) would facilitate training/study visit to Suriname. JWG has been arranged by Indian Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.


Government of Suriname got appreciation from the Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh for celebrating 145th anniversary of the arrival of Indians in Suriname during May and June 2018 and preserving and propagating the Hindi language by the Hindustani community in the country.


Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has been informed by Radha Mohan to initiate talks with its counterpart in Suriname for the collaboration to further rice research in the country.
High-level delegation had participated in the International Solar Alliance Conference which is an initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India.
