Tourism Australia’s first Indian woman ambassador, Parineeti Chopra

Melbourne, Sep 8  (UITV): "Friends of Australia"(FOA) a program which involves a range of influential people including sports stars, fashion designers, celebrity chefs, environmentalists, entrepreneurs and artists along with some of Australia’s most influential high-achievers and opinion leaders who share a passion for Australia.

The program is designed to allow both Australian and international opinion leaders to share their own personal and authentic Australian stories to their networks as well as through Tourism Australia’s networks.  

Parineeti Chopra, a famous Indian actress who appears in Hindi films was presented the Friends of Australia (FOA) recognition by Australian Consul General Tony Huber for her contribution to promote Australia recently, according to Tourism Australia (TA) statement. Parineeti Chopra is the first Indian woman in FOA to lead the role as ambassador and joins fellow Indian Friends of Australia, chef Sanjeev Kapoor and renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle .

To promote Australia as a tourist destination, Parineeti will be exploring great features of aquatic and coastal experiences, rugged outback, unique wildlife and its incredible variety of world-class food and wine offering.

 "I feel really good. Even if not for this honour, I find myself very connected with Australia. When I went to Australia for the first time, I literally did a Saashtang namaskaar (kissed the ground) when I came out of airport. It was this one location I have been waiting to go to." Parineeti said. It shows her affection and passion towards Australia.

USD 1.2 billion was generated by Indian tourists by visiting Australia in 2016. It is expected that the potential of India would grow above USD 1.9 billion by Tourism 2020 strategy.
