US President Donald Trump formally launches 2020 re-election campaign

Washington, June 19 (UITV/IANS)- US President Donald Trump has formally launched his 2020 re-election campaign at a rally in Orlando, Florida, and called on his supporters to deliver a metaphorical "earthquake" at the ballots against his Democratic Party rivals.

"The only thing these corrupt politicians will understand is an earthquake at the ballot box... and they're going to see it," Trump told some 20,000 supporters at the rally in the Amway Centre on Tuesday night.

Om Birla elected Lok Sabha Speaker unopposed

New Delhi, June 19 (UITV/IANS)- BJP MP from Rajasthan Om Birla was on Wednesday unanimously elected the Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha.

Birla, 56, was elected after Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed his name on Day 3 of the Budget session.

All members of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as well the Congress and the Trinamool Congress supported the proposal to pick Birla as the Speaker.

Birla, a two-time MP from Kota and a three-time MLA, was personally escorted to the Speaker's chair by the Prime Minister after the formalities were over.

Xi Jinping and Donald Trump hold telephone conversation

Beijing, June 19 (UITV/IANS)- Chinese President Xi Jinping held a telephone conversation with his US counterpart Donald Trump at the latter's request.

During the call on Tuesday, Trump said he looked forward to meeting Xi again during the upcoming Group of 20 (G20) summit in the Japanese city of Osaka later this month, and conducting in-depth discussions on bilateral ties and issues of common concern, reports Xinhua news agency.

The US side, Trump added, valued its economic and trade cooperation with China, and hoped that the teams on both sides can conduct communication, and find a way to resolve the current dispute as soon as possible.

AAP asks MEA to ensure return of two women from Punjab stranded abroad

Chandigarh, June 14 (UITV/IANS)- Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators from Punjab on Friday met officials of the Ministry of External Affairs, urging them to ensure the safe return of two Punjabi women "trapped" in Australia and Kuwait.

In a statement issued here, the legislators Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Jai Kishan Singh Rori met Under Secretary G.D. Pande and other officials in New Delhi, urging them to facilitate their release and safe return.

The AAP leaders said young boys and girls of the state were opting for greener pastures on the foreign shores due to wrong policies of the state and Union governments.

The AAP leaders said unscrupulous travel agents were running the nefarious trade in the state.

Sandhwan demanded the government should have zero tolerance when it came to acting against travel agents who were managing their business by fraudulently arranging fake visas to trap innocent youth.

She is happy that her next film "Spider-Man: Far From Home" is in sync with her thoughts.

Zendaya played Michelle in "Spider-Man: Homecoming". On the basis of the last line that she says in the film: "My friends call me MJ", many fans speculated that she will essay Mary Jane Watson in the film franchise.

Lucknow, June 19 (UITV/IANS)- All private universities in Uttar Pradesh will now have to give an undertaking to the government, saying that their campuses will not be allowed to be used for "any anti-national activity", a new ordinance says.

The draft of a new ordinance, which will pave the way for an umbrella act, was approved by Yogi Adityanath's cabinet on Tuesday. New York, June 19 (UITV/IANS)- Researchers have developed a smartphone application that allows a user to easily programme any robot to perform a task, dramatically bringing down the costs of building and programming mobile robots.

The researchers demonstrated this app with robots watering a plant, vacuuming and transporting objects. A study on the embedded app, called VRa, was presented at DIS 2019 in San Diego.
