Mumbai, Sep 17: Versatile cricketer Axar Patel has been ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka due to injury. Stepping into his place is Washington Sundar, who has quickly settled into the team in Colombo.
Axar Patel suffered a left quadriceps strain during India’s Super Four face-off against Bangladesh on Friday, where India suffered a close defeat by just six runs in the final Super Four stage match.
Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), revealed the unfortunate news in a statement on Saturday. “Axar Patel has been ruled out of the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka after suffering a left quadriceps strain during India’s Super Four match against Bangladesh,” he said.
