LLC, December 7: Tension flared up in the Legends League Cricket eliminator when former Indian players S Sreesanth and Gautam Gambhir got into a heated argument during the match between India Capitals vs Gujarat Giants on December 6.

The incident came to light in the second over of the game when Gambhir hit Sreesanth for a six over deep midwicket, followed by a four on the next ball. The next ball, which was a little wide, Gambhir hit it straight to the fielder. The left-handed batsman reacted to Sreesanth’s remarks towards Gambhir, following which a verbal spat broke out between the two former teammates.

Despite the drama on the field, Gambhir showcased his batting ability and scored a quickfire inning of 51 runs off 30 balls. The India Capitals captain made significant contributions to his team’s total of 223/7 in 20 overs by hitting seven fours and a six.

In reply, Chris Gayle’s brilliant knock of 84 off 55 balls was not enough, and Gujarat Giants ultimately fell short and lost the match by 12 runs.

Gautam Gambhir-leading the team  India Capitals will now face Manipal Tigers in Qualifier 2. The winner of this match will reach the final against Urbanizers Hyderabad. The upcoming qualifiers are scheduled for Thursday, December 7, while the grand finale will take place on Saturday, December 9.
