Johannesburg, December 15: Thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s explosive century in 55 balls, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s half-century and Kuldeep Yadav’s five-wicket haul, India achieved a spectacular 106-run victory over South Africa in the third T20 match at the New Wanderers Stadium on Thursday. The series is tied at 1-1.
Suryakumar, registering his fourth T20 century, joined the ranks of Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell in scoring most centuries in T20 Internationals. Initially on 26 off 24 balls, the stand-in captain became aggressive in the latter half of the innings, especially in the 13th over, where he demolished Andile Phehlukwayo with three sixes and a four. The 33-year-old’s century of seven fours and eight sixes took India to a strong score of 201/7 despite losing wickets in the last two overs. Suryakumar’s innings also took him to the list of batsmen who have hit the second most number of sixes for India in T20Is, surpassing Virat Kohli.

Supported by Yashasvi Jaiswal, who contributed 60 runs in 41 balls, the duo formed a century partnership for the third wicket. In reply, South Africa struggled early on, losing wickets during the powerplay and failing to recover. Mohammed Siraj set the tone with exceptional bowling and the spinners, including Kuldeep Yadav, dominated the latter half of the innings. Kuldeep celebrated his birthday with a five-wicket haul and achieved his career-best T20I score of 5/17.
Only three of the Proteas’ batsmen – captain Aiden Markram (25), David Miller (35), and Donovan Ferreira (12) – reached double figures as they were bowled out for 95, falling 106 runs short of the target in the final T20I. Went. The series ended in a 1–1 draw, with the first match abandoned due to rain and South Africa claiming victory in the second.
